St. Teresa of Avila Feast Day

St. Teresa of Avila (1515 - 1582)
St. Teresa of Avila was a Spanish Carmelite Nun. She was a very smart, beautiful and gifted woman who gave her life entirely to God. She was a mystic, or a person who experienced God supernaturally. When she joined the Carmelite Order, the nuns there were not praying much. She reformed the Order, turning it into a strict house of unceasing prayer. The Church continues to benefit from the prayers of the Carmelites today. She is the patron saint of Spain. Her feastday is on 15 October.
