St. Katharine Drexel (1858 – 1955)
St. Katharine Drexel came from a rich
American family. Although she had a privileged life, she used all her wealth to
help others, especially Native Americans and African-Americans. St. Katharine
established the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, an order of nuns who help
oppressed people. She founded many schools and missions with her own money. She
had great love for Jesus in the Eucharist and believed in the unity of all
peoples. Her feast day is on 3 March.
