St. Joachim and St. Anne are the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to traditions, they were childless for many years until an angel appeared and told them they would have a child. St. Anne then promised to dedicate this child to God. The parents of Mary played important roles in bringing her up, preparing and nurturing her to become Jesus' mother one day. In this way, they have a great part in the history of salvation! St. Joachim and St. Anne's feast day is on 26 July.
