St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090 - 1153) was a gifted preacher, writer and adviser who became a Cistercian Monk to escape the world’s temptations. He even inspired his brothers, uncles and many friends to join him. He helped the Church overcome many disputes and wrote many books that still inspire people today. Despite his great endeavors, he continued to live a simple monastic life. His feast day is on 20 August.
