St. Lucy

St. Lucy (283 – 304) lived during a time when the Roman Emperor wanted to destroy the Christian faith. She had great love for Jesus and promised her life to Him. Rejecting a marriage to a non-believer, she was tortured and killed for her faith. The torturers even removed her eyes but God restored them. St. Lucy is the patron saint of the blind and those with eye ailments. Her name literally means ‘light’. Her feast day is on December 13.

ST. MARTIN OF TOURS (316 – 397) was the Bishop of Tours, a city in France. When he was a Roman soldier, he took pity on a beggar and cut his cloak in half to share with the poor man. The beggar revealed Himself to be Jesus Christ! Even as a soldier, St. Martin lived in prayer and fasting. When he became a priest later, the people of Tours wanted him to become their Bishop because he was so holy! He worked hard to dispel wrong beliefs in the Church while at the same time living an austere life. He is the patron saint of soldiers. His feast day is on 11 November.

Solemnity of All Saints (All Saints' Day)
'After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation comes from our God, who is seated on the throne, and from the Lamb.”
