The Epiphany of the Lord

When Jesus was born, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem and asked King Herod, “Where is the Infant King? We have seen His star and we have come to adore Him.” King Herod was disturbed and told them to seek Jesus so he too could worship Him. Herod secretly wanted to kill Jesus. When the wise men had heard King Herod, they went away. Following the star, they found Jesus with Mary and Joseph. And so, falling prostrate, they adored Him and offered Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

The Feast of Epiphany is traditionally celebrated on 6 January in many countries. In other places, it is celebrated on the Sunday between 2 and 8 January.
