St. Cristóbal Magallanes, martyr from Mexico

Today is the feast day of St. Cristóbal Magallanes. St. Cristóbal (1869 – 1927) was a Mexican priest during a time when his government wanted to destroy the Catholic faith. He built schools, shops and power plants to help the people in his parish, especially the poor. When his old seminary was shut down, he started another one. He was falsely accused of inciting rebellion and was arrested on his way to celebrate Mass one day. He was executed together with many other priests. His feast day is on May 21.
