St. Josemaría Escrivá

Ordinary Life as a Path to Sanctity
Feast Day of St. Josemaría Escrivá
St. Josemaría Escrivá (1902 - 1975) was a Spanish Priest who founded the Opus Dei, which means ‘Work of God’.  Opus Dei is an organization of laypeople and priests dedicated to the teaching that everyone is called to holiness and that ordinary life is a path to sanctity. When St. Josemaría was a teenager, he saw footprints in the snow left by a monk walking barefoot. This inspired him to become a priest. He wrote many books and gave talks, teaching about prayer, mortification and holiness in ordinary life and work. His feast day is on June 26.
