The Story of Bl. Imelda Lambertini, Patron Saint of First Communicants

Today is the feast day of Bl. Imelda Lambertini, an 11-year old girl of extraordinary faith in the Eucharist. Bl. Imelda Lambertini was born in 1322, coming from a well-known family in Bologna, Italy. As a little child, she loved prayer and the Mass. When she was five, she asked to receive Jesus in the Eucharist but she was considered too young to do so. When she was eleven, as she knelt to pray during Mass, a miraculous Eucharistic Host appeared over her head. Seeing this, the priest let her received Holy Communion and she died after that while still in joyful prayer. Bl. Imelda is the patron saint of First Communicants. Her feast day is on May 12.
