Happy Feast Day, St. Monica!
St. Monica (331 - 387) is the mother of St. Augustine, the famous bishop of Hippo. She had a very difficult life as a wife, mother and daughter-in-law in North Africa. Her husband did not share her faith and was hot-tempered. Her mother-in-law treated her badly and Augustine was wayward. However, through her examples, prayers and fasting, all of them eventually believed in Jesus. She prayed for St. Augustine for 17 years before he converted! Her feast day is on August 27.
