The Feasts of the Angels

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that 'the whole life of the Church benefits from the mysterious and powerful help of angels.' (CCC 334)

We are celebrating two great Angelic Feasts this week - the Feast of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael on September 29th; and the Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels on October 2nd. If you are looking for resources about angels, we have some printable activity templates in the following ebooks:

Happy Saints Jesus' Family and Friends eBook Features posters, prayer cards and coloring pages of Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael

Happy Saints Favorite Prayers eBook - Features posters, prayer cards and coloring pages of Prayer of St. Michael and Prayer of the Guardian  Angel.

This is a good time to help young people learn about these heavenly helpers and make friends with them! Both ebooks are available at happysaints.com

Why did Jesus speak in Parables?

The power of story-telling in evangelization

In this Sunday’s Gospel Reading at Mass, Jesus shared three parables: the lost sheep, the lost coin and the prodigal son. Most of us are familiar with these stories without even needing to read them again. Why did Jesus use so many parables in His teachings?

I can think of a few reasons:

  • Stories are easy to remember.
  • Stories are universal and non-threatening.
  • Stories are relatable and provide context to a message.
  • Stories allow one to discover the message by oneself.
  • Stories may be retold in many ways while preserving the message.

These are just a few good reasons to use parables, stories and testimonies in our evangelization efforts. They are especially great for children!

Here is a fun resource to tell Jesus’ parables to kids with multiple printable template. It is great for Homeschooling, Sunday Schools and Children’s Liturgy:

12 Years of Happy Saints (& 30% off!)

This month marks the 12th year since the Happy Saints project started. The first blog post appeared in August, 2010. Happy Saints began as a side project to create contemporary illustrations of Patron Saints that appeal to the digital generation. Since then, it has become a full-time endeavor and has generated hundreds of saint artworks, and a substantial catalog of religious education resources used by churches, schools and homes everywhere.

I want to thank everyone for your support, prayers and patronage without which Happy Saints would not sustained for so long. I ask God to bless all of you and may His Light guide you through these turbulent times to emerge stronger in faith and hope.

As we move forward, I ask for your continued prayers and support to keep the Happy Saints going and inspire more young people to learn about the treasures of our Faith.

Also, I am giving a 30% discount for Happy Saints eBooks!
